In
my career as a performer, I have been most richly Blessed beyond
measure. The list of people I have had the opportunity
to share the stage and make music with read like a "Who's Who"
of all facets of the music industry. Wayne Newton, Larry Gatlin,
Hovie Lister, Jake Hess, J.D. Sumner & James Blackwood have
been large portions of my professional life.
When the "professional and personal" areas come together,
however, the results are unique and quite rewarding. I
became close friends with the late Cecil Blackwood long before we
ever sang our first song together. He was a fried as well
as a hero to a bothersome little kid with whom he took up an awful
lot of time. Again, this was decades before we traveled
and sang together. Upon finally fulfilling my boyhood
dream of singing with him, I found out that I wasn't all that exclusive. I
realized that Cecil Blackwood had time for everyone. He
reached out with God's love to anyone who wanted to talk to a true
music legend and made them feel specially loved & appreciated.
I miss him more than I can convey to you. I honestly
cannot remember a time without him and his influence on everything
I did. My life is most assuredly richer because he was
in it and this collection of my best work is a loving, most deserved
tribute to my life-long friend....Cecil Blackwood.
